Solana’s Treat of the Month — a reflection of the spa’s beginnings
Today is a beautiful fall day, with the sunlight beaming through the trees, illuminating the fiery red and burnt yellow leaves against the blue sky, and the scent of pumpkin spice goodies abounds throughout the city.
At Solana Natural Beauty and Wellness I’ve been serving up my own pumpkin offering with my October Treat of the Month: the Pumpkin & Coconut Latte Hydrating Facial (still available during November). This is just one of the hundreds of Treat of the Month services I have created in the spa’s history.
12 years ago, I opened Solana Natural Beauty and Wellness (originally Solana Day Spa) with a mission I still hold to this day – to create a truly special experience for people using natural products, a holistic touch, and a warm atmosphere. I was lucky to come across what was at the time a small skin care company called Eminence Organic Skin Care, falling in love with these beautiful and delicious products that were not only made from organic whole fruits, vegetables, and herbs, but were also active and gave great results. I carefully chose other natural makeup, bath and body care, and later hair care products to complete my collection. I decorated the spa in warm colours and subtle Mexican decor and began offering seasonally-inspired Treat of the Month services. As a result I have developed wonderful long-lasting connections with many clients, who have come to trust that I am offering them products and services that are contributing to their health and wellness.
It hasn’t been an easy journey. The economy went downhill only three years after starting my business. People began cutting back on things like spa services, or would opt for the quicker, less expensive versions of services such as pedicures offered at the growing number of nail salons. Later on, the rising demand for cosmetic procedures was met with an increase of medi spas in town.I had to adapt my spa to these changes by cutting out nail services and offering advanced results-focused skin treatments, but I never compromised on my standards and have remained focused on my original mission. Not only do I still only use Eminence Organic Skin Care for every facial treatment, but Solana is now an Eminence certified Green Spa, and two years ago I became a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner so I could help my clients achieve skin health (and overall wellness) from the inside out.
Honouring the spa’s origins, this November I’m bringing back one of Solana’s original signature treatments, The Mexican Warming Cocoa Facial. As a thank you to my loyal clients who appreciate what I do and have kept the spa going, I’m offering this facial at the original price of $85!
Thanks for sharing this journey with me — I hope to see you this November for your next treat.
